Everyone deserves some time away. Whether it be for a brief weekend or an extended period of time, everyone needs to be able to get away. If you're anything like me, you live on a tight budget. There are months that I live from paycheck to paycheck. I don't always have the finances to be able to escape, but I need to get away from reality every so often.
I'm always looking into taking cheap trips to explore new places and not spend too much money. Just because you need to get away doesn't always mean that you need to splurge on a vacation. There are plenty of cheap trips and vacation ideas to be found if you simply do some research and use your imagination.
Some cheap trips that I've taken have been things such as camping to a local campground. I've also taken camping trips further from home at various times, but you don't always need to travel far to discover nature. Camping trips may only cost you several dollars a night for the site and the expenses of any food you decide to take along. I've taken cheap trips to local hotels or bed and breakfasts just for the sake of being away from my home for a weekend. If I'm not in the mood to answer the phone or wash my dishes and I'm beyond being stressed out, I will make reservations. Again, you don't need to travel too far away to do that. I've been known to hide away for a weekend in a hotel room curled up with a great book.
Other cheap trips may be a getaway to the beaches. If you live within a few hours of the beaches, that is. I've gone to the beach in the middle of winter just for the sake of getting away and it is very inexpensive. You also will find that the beach towns are usually very empty during the cooler, off-season months. Be creative when looking into cheap trips. Find a campground at a lake or a beach for the weekend, find some last minute cruises that you can save a lot of money on or even take some road trips to some big cities. If you pack your own food, you can find yourself taking some cheap trips as well.
Know what your budget is before looking into finding cheap trips. Look around, ask around, and be flexible with the ideas. You don't have to lay on a tropical island to be on vacation. As long as you're away from home and not hearing the phone ringing, you are on vacation.
