The age of long playing records ended with the advent of tape recorders. CD players stepped in to replace the tape recorders and in the turn of new millennium, the survival of CD players itself is threatened by the phenomenal craze of the music lovers for the MP3 players.
And why should one not be crazy about this small electronic device by the name of MPEG Audio Layer 3 and nicknamed as MP3? Which other device will allow you to stay attuned to your music while working up in the gym or heighten up your mood in the office after a scold from the boss or simply to relax in the comfort of your living room? It is this wonderful electronic device that weaves technological efficiency into the personal life to make the modern living less stressful and more relaxing.
Whenever we think of MP3 player we inevitably end up thinking about the famous Apple iPod. But as a matter of fact, MP3 formats can be found in many other gadgets as common as a feature packed mobile phone. If you already have Palmtop or Pocket PC, you will get the MP3 facilities with them. These days even some watches and digital cameras make it possible to carry your music along with you in the format of MP3 music files.
But a true music lover like you would want a dedicated device to stay tuned to his favorite music all though his wake hours. And for that you have to invest in a MP3 player. In addition to the celebrated Apple iPod, it is possible to find a range of products in the market; some are small in size to let you carry on with your outdoor activities, while a few come with bigger hard drive and bigger sizes; some are cheap and some come with formidable brand name and formidable price tag. So selecting a particular product from this crowd becomes a mind boggling affair.
To make your task simpler let this single factor guide your decision: consider what gives you pleasure as you listen to your favorite music. You are buying it to quench your thirst for music, right? So don't get baffled by the features like rows of buttons and pretty plasma screen; a complicated device will add up to your stock of gizmos but that has nothing to do with serving good music. In stead consider the following features while buying your MP3 player:
- Connectivity: how fast it is in file downloading from the computer.
- File Types: the player should be compatible with the file types saved in your computer.
- Helpful Software: to help you with easy compilation, copying and navigation.
- Storage Type: you have to choose from two types of storages: hard drive based and flash based. While the first type allows to store hundreds of files, the latter won't accommodate more than a few dozen without an expensive memory card.
